Filiz KARAOSMANOGLU

Filiz Karaosmanoglu graduated from ITU Chemical Engineering Department in 1982. She got her MSc degree in 1984 at ITU. She earned her PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from ITU Institute of Science and Technology in 1990. She became an Assistant Professor in 1991 at ITU. After getting her PhD degree, she made her Post Doctoral Study in the field of "Vegetable Oil Based Alternative Engine Fuels" in Mechanical Engineering Department of Nova Scotia Technical University-Canada between 1991-1992. Dr. Karaosmanoglu became an Associate Professor for Energy Technologies Science Branch in 1993. She is Full Professor since May 2007 at ITU. She speaks English and German. Karaosmanoglu is a member of “Clean Energy Foundation of Turkey”, “Water Foundation-Turkey”, “World Energy Councill Turkish National Committee”, “Association for Energy Economics”, “Turkish Heat Science and Technology Association”, “Türkiye Cogen Association”, “American Oil Chemists' Society” and “Austrian Biofuels Institute”. She is the member of Editorial Advisory Board of “Energy Sources”, “International Scientific Journal Alternative Energy and Ecology-ISJAEE”, and “Journal of ITU”.Dr.Karaosmanoglu teaches and conducts researches on biofuel Technologies (Biodiesel, Bioalcohols, Biomass Pyrolysis, Biochar, Biogas and Waste to Energy). Karaosmanoglu undertook the Turkey part of the ESTO Study on the Techno-Economic Feasibility of Large-Scale Production of Biofuels in EU-Candidate Countries, Project of Institute for Prospective Technologic Studies. She has published several white papers and reports on biofuels to inform the public and official parties on the use of biofuels, particularly biodiesel. She has also contributed to many conferances, seminars, and forums as a speaker on the subject. She has various national and international books, articles and presentations on “New-Clean Energy Technologies”. Karaosmanoglu’s second research area is environmental friendly lubricating oil technologies. Ms. Karaosmonoglu is married to Mr. R. Semih Karaosmanoglu, a Chemical Engineer and the owner of Mert Chemical Company and EOSROS Cosmetics Company. She is also the mother of  an 20 years old son, H. Mert.
